Need some help please. I have a 6ft rotary shredder that cuts on one side better/smoother than the other. I have sharpened the blades and made sure the shredder itself is balanced, but neither seems to help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Seems the only main difference there is from one side to the other is the fact that the blade is cutting in the direction of travel on one side, and on the other side is cutting in the opposite direction of travel. The appearance of the stubble may be what is most noticeable. Speed of travel may be affecting the cut, as well as the height (and amoount) of the grass (or whatever) being cut. One side of the rotary cutter usually leaves a windrow of cut material which may also affect the relative cut on each side. Likely the nature of the beast, not any difference between the blades. ....

One thing you might try is cutting in another direction of travel. Instead of uncut grass to the left, try uncut to the right...or vise-versa. It does make a difference.

Kay hit it right on the head. The mower is designed to only cut a certian amount in each pass. The faster the mower is travelling the more material it has to cut with each revolution of the blades. If you slow down the travel speed you will find it will cut just fine. Don't worry about the extra time required because of the slower speed, not having to cut twice, once in each direction, will more than make up for the slower speeds. Also, slow travel means less wear & tear on the equipment since they can deal with bumps more gradually instead of slamming over obstacles, your back will appreciate the smoother ride also.
Best of luck. ....

Here are a couple more tips.
Try adjusting the attitude of the cutter. In some conditions, they will cutt better if the front of the cutter is about 1"to 2" lower than the rear. And sometimes it works the opposite. It just depends.
There are a few different styles of blades for some cutters, try finding a set of high-lift blades.
Reduce tire pressure in the tractor tires. But first , make sure you have a high enough PSI for the load it is carrying.
Mow when the material is wet. I know this is backwards for a lawnmower, but my expeirience has proven this effective. ....

I think that nobody actually asked if the tractor is operated at PTO speed. Seems a pretty safe assumption that PTO implements are operated at PTO rpm, but never hurts to ask I guess. I also interpreted the question as related to rotary mowers. Seems a safe assumption, but it would be ironic if the question was about shredders. ....
